2nd Wednesday of the Month RubiABQ presentation
August 14, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
This presentation will fuse origami and programming.
We will assemble an “open frame bow-tie motif cube” https://origamiusa.org/gallery-photo/open-frame-bow-tie-motif from 12 pre-folded origami struts. We’ll then add 18 more pre-folded struts and convert the cube to an icosahedron https://www.deviantart.com/patryk66k/art/Open-Frame-I-Bow-tie-Motif-118876555
No prior origami experience is needed for the above, although there will be a quick presentation of how an individual strut is folded.
After that, we’ll do some live coding in Rust, to illustrate how a strong type system’s constraints shares some of the properties that make the struts so useful.
Finally, we’ll compare all of the above to Ruby.
The strut and the two models we’ll fold were all created by Tomoko Fuse.
Pizza and beverages will be provided.
